The Standard Model Lagrangian is the compact mathematical expression that encodes the dynamics of the Standard Model of particle physics. It specifies the fields representing quarks, leptons, gauge bosons, and the Higgs field, along with the interactions allowed between them. Through the principle of least action, the Lagrangian generates the equations governing particle motion, forces, symmetry breaking, and mass generation. Its dense notation compresses an enormous amount of physical behavior into a single framework. From particle collisions to radioactive decay, much of known subatomic physics follows from it. It is used primarily in quantum field theory, particle physics, and high-energy physics.
